Getting Started

I’ve tried everything. Will this actually work?

If you’re on this site, you’ve probably already tried about a million different things. Trainers, YouTube, advice from every “dog person” you know…And you know what? Those work for some pets. But your pet is just a “tiny” bit more complex than average, which is just our cup of tea. Many of our clients see life-changing progress. Some see enough improvement to breathe again. And a few discover their pet’s needs are just too big for their family. Wherever this journey takes us together, we promise you’ll be heard and understood by people who just plain love this work.

What’s the difference between a veterinary behaviorist, a trainer, and my regular vet?

Trainers teach skills, sports, obedience, tricks, and some do the really heavy lifting of teaching coping strategies. Vets keep your pet healthy. Veterinary behaviorists (that’s us) connect those dots - think “pet psychiatrist.” We can diagnose, prescribe, and create plans for the toughest stuff, especially when nothing else has worked.

What’s the difference between a veterinary behaviorist, a trainer, and my regular vet?

Our team is small, and we want to give every client our full attention so we don’t do discovery calls. Reach us on our webchat. If you need a phone-based team, we’ll point you to trusted colleagues with phone staff.

Medications And Treatment

Will meds change my pet’s personality?

We get it. Nobody wants a “zombie dog.” The right meds don’t erase who your pet is. They help your pet feel safe enough to be themselves. If a medication isn’t a good fit, we change it. It’s one of the many reasons why we have our monthly check-ins with you.

What if nothing works?

Then we keep troubleshooting. Sometimes the answer is a different med, a new strategy, or a change in expectations. Sometimes, the kindest thing is to help you make a hard decision. We’re here for all of it, with you.

Can you prescribe meds for virtual clients?

Only if we’ve seen your pet in person in the last 12 months (and you’re in Colorado). For virtual coaching, we’ll send options to your regular vet - they’ll decide what’s safe and right for your pet.

Virtual Vs
In Person

How does virtual coaching work?

We review your pet’s history, talk through your goals, and create a report for your veterinarian to help them treat your pet. It’s like having a specialist in your corner, no matter where you live. Many families get great results this way, especially with an exceptional behavior consultant (we can provide you and your vet with referrals.

We want our clients with the best!

Should I come in person or do virtual?

Both options can get great results. But if you can get here and live in Colorado, see us in-person. Progress can move faster that way. Virtual is great if you can’t come in and your vet is on board. We’ll help you choose.

Location: 9600 E Peakview Ave, Greenwood Village, CO 80111 (free parking!)

What happens at the first appointment?

We review your pet’s history (fill out our form and upload all your pet’s medical records 48 hrs ahead), watch 1-2 videos you’ve sent, and meet your pet in whatever way works best for them. You’ll leave with a plan we create together. Both you and your vet get a written summary by email.

What should I bring?

Upload all medical records and a completed history 48 hrs before you appointment.

On the day of your appointment bring all current and past meds, walking gear, muzzles, treats, and a bag of your pet’s food. For virtual, just upload records to our portal.

How often are follow-ups?

Every 4 weeks at first, then we space them out as your pet improves. Most families graduate in 6–12 months, but we go at your pet's pace.

Pricing and Logistics

What does it cost?

$675 (in-person or virtual)

$220 (every 4 weeks to start)

$400

We see our families at least every 4 weeks to start. Often, in around 4-6 months, we are ready to space out appointments a bit further. When progress is stable and you are happy, we’ll graduate you back to your regular vet. Then we celebrate!

Do you offer payment plans or discounts?

We don’t. We are just too small.

What’s your cancellation policy?

Cancel with less than 3 business days’ notice and you’ll be charged the full reservation fee.

Outside of that a small administration fee may apply.

We’re a small team with a waitlist. Thanks for making sure someone else can get an appointment if you can’t make it.

The Hard Stuff

Will my pet “grow out of it”?

Serious behavior issues need help, not time. The sooner we start, the better.

Is this my fault?

No. Not at the heart of it. Most behavior problems are a mix of genetics, early life experiences, environmental factors, and luck. Chances are your pet is super smart and has a hard time with emotional regulation. And that makes things way more complicated than most clients expect. We give you the tools to create new, joyful, healthy connections with your pet.

What if I can’t keep my pet?

Sometimes loving a pet means making the hardest call. If your pet is unsafe or suffering, we’ll help you think through every option including rehoming, sanctuary, or euthanasia. No judgment. Just support.

Do you work with trainers or behavior consultants?

Absolutely. We love collaborating with trainers who “get it.” The best results happen when everyone’s on the same team. To make this collaboration even more effective, download our FREE Behavior Tracker.

How do I reach you between appointments?

Website chat is the fastest way. We check it throughout the day and can answer quick questions or get you scheduled.
